Fees

Our usual fee is $60, which is negotiable on an individual, case by case basis.

Your counsellor will negotiate an affordable fee with you. If you are having difficulty meeting this fee, please discuss this with your counsellor.

If you are on a benefit or low income, you may be eligible for a Disability Allowance Counselling through Work and Income NZ . Sometimes there is funding available for youth.

Referrals

We welcome self referrals or referrals from families, doctors and Social Service Agencies. Rata Counselling Centre has approval status as a Community Services provider under Section 403 of the Children, Young Persons and their Families Act 1989 to provide counselling services for Families at Risk, and Children (10-16 yrs) Witnessing Violence.

Cancellations

As a low cost counselling centre, we cannot sustain cancellations or non-attendance of scheduled appointments. So, if you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, you will be charged half of your negotiated fee. If you don’t show up for your appointment, you will incur the full fee. If you miss 2 sessions without notifying us, your appointment time will be given to someone on the waiting list.
